Jamieson's Shetland DK is a 3-ply wool. Use it for medium-weight sweaters, or for Fair Isle projects in a gauge slightly larger than that of traditional jumper-weight wools. Shetland DK is a great choice for felting projects, too!

Her instructions were a little short, and I was able to get a few more balls in the colors I needed, and I wear this sweater at least once a week. I think I may need to make another in case this one wears out! I am a bit sensitive to wool, but I wear this sweater over a t-shirt all the time and have no problems. I can't wait to get some more for another project. So far I have used it to make several hats and some mittens, and am currently knitting a fair isle/intarsia method sweater for myself using this yarn. I plan on knitting most of my Christmas sweaters using Jamieson's Shetland DK (except for those whose pattern requires Jamieson's Soft Shetland). You will definitely want to block your items knitted with this yarn, as the previous reviewer suggested; after blocking the yarn just blossoms, becoming softer and fluffier. I can't say enough good things about this yarn! I wanted it in a slightly larger gauge than called for in the book. I'm very pleased with the warmth, and my family thinks it looks gorgeous too. Definitely block this wool so it will become softer and fill out! I did, and pinned it to a blocking board, so the lace pattern shows very nicely. Was this review helpful to you?
