Sally Melville describes this sweater that appears on the cover of her Color book as the "doing-it-all" sweater because of the multiple knitting techniques used. You'll knit stripes, intarsia rectangles while carrying and weaving in the main color behind (not as hard as it sounds!), duplicate stitch -- with a bit of Fair Isle patterning on the bottom band and button band. The loop-and-button closure is particularly pretty, as the loops and buttons alternate from one side to the next. (Just for fun, check out the knitting bag that was Sally Melville's inspiration for this sweater.)
Women's sizes S, M, L, 1X, 2X use the following amounts of Jamieson's Double Knitting: (Note -- all customers of Two Swans who have knitted this jacket have found that they have needed one additional ball of each of the main colors; consequently, I have increased the yarn quantities of Grouse and Spagnum for you.)
